Clifford Shaw, Director

Mr. Shaw began his career with the Barclays Bank Group where he worked for sixteen years in a variety of roles and locations. In 1990 he became President of Mercury Asset Management Japan Limited. Following the acquisition of Mercury Asset Management by Merrill Lynch in 1997, Mr. Shaw became President and later Chairman of the combined investment management operations in Tokyo. He subsequently took up a role as managing Director in New York before retiring from Merrill Lynch in 2001. During his time in Japan, Mr. Shaw served as the first non-Japanese director of the Japan Securities Investment Advisors Association and as Chairman of both the European Business Commission and the American Chamber of Commerce Asset Management Committees. Mr. Shaw has a degree in Natural Sciences and Oriental Studies from Selwyn College, Cambridge.

Tomas Olsson, Director

Mr. Olsson joined Prosperity Capital Management in 2003. Prosperity Capital Management is since 1996 a leading manager of equity funds in Russia & CIS, with over US$4.5 billion under management. The firm is today ranked as the 29th largest hedge fund in Europe (according to Hedge Fund Journal). Mr Olsson previously worked at ABB Equity Ventures in Zurich, where he was Vice President and working with direct investments in emerging markets. Prior to this, Mr. Olsson worked with direct investments and project finance at Asian Development Bank, and with Japanese and Nordic debt capital markets at SEB (Enskilda Debt Capital Markets) and Nippon Credit Bank in Tokyo. Mr. Olsson holds a Master's degree in Financial Economics from Stockholm School of Economics. He studied at McGill University, MBA School.

William E Smith, CFA, Director

Mr. Smith’s career in the investment management field spans over 32 years, during which time he has accumulated a wealth of experience in portfolio management and fund management. Mr. Smith has held various senior portfolio manager and advisory positions including Swiss Bank Corporation - Portfolio Manager, and AVP; CIBC Bank & Trust Corporation (Cayman) Ltd – Portfolio Manager; CIBC Global Asset Management (Cayman) Limited – Manager of CIBC PCF Balanced Fund. Mr. Smith holds the CFA designation (Chartered Financial Analyst) he also has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business Administration from Principia College, Illinois.
